SCHOOL SHOWS
Mon Carton provides direct pathways to work on objectives for PreK and Kindergarten development and learning. The performance format gives new opportunities for social emotional development. It is a time when classes comes together for a new shared experience and often children who have difficulties in other group situations surprise and shine in their ability to connect to performance. The show plays with materials, the senses, language, and physicality giving teachers inspiration for new activities in these domains. Playing with the number 3, both through the objects in the show, and the rule of 3 in comedic timing, and exploring common shapes of differing scale, the show offers springboards to work on basic mathematics. Mon Carton tells the story of a character, of the objects she discovers, and of how she interacts with them which directly relate to curriculum objectives of understanding the concepts of self and transformation. For older classes, the show is an opportunity to discuss storytelling, character, and magic. Above all, Mon Carton is an opportunity to bring a quality live theater and dance performance directly into your classroom.
